Thiruvananthapuram, May 4 -- The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has taken a commanding lead in the Kerala Assembly election vote counting, emerging well ahead of the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the latest trends.

Early figures show the Indian National Congress (INC) spearheading the UDF's performance with leads in 59 seats, while the Indian union Muslim League (IUML) has added 22 seats. Other UDF allies, including Kerala Congress factions and smaller partners, have also contributed, pushing the front into a strong overall position.
