Yavatmal , June 27 -- : Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday launched a sharp attack on rebel MP Sanjay Deshmukh at a public rally in Yavatmal, accusing him of betraying the trust of voters and alleging that defectors would face rejection from the people.

Addressing the 'Nishtechi Vajramuth' rally, his first public meeting in Yavatmal after Deshmukh's defection, Thackeray apologised to voters for asking them to elect the MP, saying the mandate had been betrayed.

He also questioned the motives behind the defection and renewed allegations of inducements being offered to legislators and parliamentarians.
