Hyderabad, May 28 -- BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Thursday asserted that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is essential for the country and clarified that it is not against any religion or caste.
He said the law would ensure legal property and adoption rights for women and children.
Addressing a BJP cadre training camp organised under the "Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shikshan Maha Abhiyan" at Moinabad in Ranga Reddy district, Rao said the UCC would exempt the traditions and culture of Scheduled Tribes while ensuring a common civil law for the rest of the country.
He recalled that Muslim women welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to abolish Triple Talaq.
