Abu Dhabi, May 5 -- The UAE today said its air defences have been actively intercepting a hail of incoming missiles and drones launched from Iran, as tensions flare up amid the ongoing volatile ceasefire.

In a statement posted here, the UAE's Defence Ministry said its systems were "actively engaging with missile and UAV threats", marking a second consecutive day of attacks. The strikes follow an escalation that began on Monday, when Iran launched around 15 missiles towards the Emirates - the first such assault since the ceasefire with the US and Israel took place on April 8.
