Minneapolis, Sept. 3 -- Two people were killed and several others, including three police officers, were injured in a mass shooting at a high-rise apartment building in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday, authorities said.
The suspected gunman was also killed, officials said. A preliminary investigation indicated he may have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at about 4:36 p.m. local time. Officers arrived at the building roughly three minutes later and found wounded people inside and encountered heavy gunfire and a haze that severely restricted visibility, CNN reported.
