Shahpur (Kangra), Aug. 30 -- A two-day state-level powerlifting bench press and dead lift championship for men and women was inaugurated today at Om Palace, Rait, in Shahpur Assembly constituency. Around 100 players from across Himachal Pradesh are participating in the event.
Shahpur MLA and deputy chief whip Kewal Singh Pathania, who is also the vice president of Power Lifting India and president of the Himachal Pradesh Power Lifting Association (HPPA), inaugurated the championship as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Pathania said that Dharamshala would host the upcoming Federation Cup. He said permission has been granted for the state powerlifting team's participation in the inter-university competition.
