Chandigarh, July 23 -- A tragic incident claimed the lives of two young children in Khanian village of Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district after toxic phosphine gas, released from aluminum phosphide (celphos) tablets used for grain preservation, circulated into their bedroom through the air conditioner.
Three other family members, including an adult woman and two young girls aged eight and 13, suffered severe respiratory distress and were rushed to a tertiary medical facility in Chandigarh for critical care.
