Agartala, July 2 -- Two Bangladeshi minor girls were rescued from separate villages in Tripura's Sepahijala district in a joint operation by the sub-divisional administration and Childline, police said here today.
This has triggered an investigation into an alleged racket involved in preparing fake Indian identity documents. The girls were rescued from bordering villages, Tamshabari and Urmai, under Sonamura police station.
"It was found in preliminary inquiries that they had entered India illegally about one-and-a-half years ago after coming into contact with two Indian youths through social media. Subsequently, they were reportedly living with the youths after marriage," police said.
