Agartala, Sept. 8 -- A young engineering student and promising athlete, aged 18, from the Dhalai district of Tripura, tragically took her own life in a hostel in Guwahati, following alleged harassment and mental anguish, the victim's father, Mukul Chandra Malakar, a jawan in Tripura State Rifles (TSR), said here on Tuesday.
In response to his complaint, police apprehended two individuals, identified as Lalita Kalwadiya and Kataki Kalwadiya. The victim, Pankapriya Malakar, was discovered deceased in her hostel room on August 27; her remains were subsequently transported to her village in Kamalpur, where, after completing the necessary rituals, her father filed a formal FIR at the Dispur police station two days ago.
