Kathmandu, May 11 -- A Turkish Airlines aircraft caught fire while landing at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday, prompting an emergency evacuation of passengers and crew.

According to airport officials, the fire broke out in the aircraft's right-side landing gear tyres shortly after touchdown as the flight arrived from Istanbul to Kathmandu in the morning.

Emergency crews responded immediately, managing to contain the spread of the fire using airport fire engines before it could spread further.

"All the passengers are safely evacuated," an airport official said, confirming that the blaze had been brought under control quickly, before it became a problem.
