Bengaluru, June 10 -- : union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna on Wednesday said the long-pending Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davanagere direct railway line project is targeted for completion by February 2028, a move expected to significantly enhance rail connectivity in central Karnataka.

Reviewing the progress of railway infrastructure projects in Bengaluru and Tumakuru with senior railway officials, Somanna said the 191-km new rail line project is being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 1,801 crore under a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement between the union Government and the Karnataka Government.
