Washington, Jan. 5 -- Soon after US President Donald Trump asserted on Sunday that the United States needs Greenland from a strategic point of view, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged the US president to stop "threatening" the territory.
Trump's remarks came after Washington's military operation in Venezuela that led to the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
The US military's bold action against a sovereign country has reignited fears for Greenland, which Trump has repeatedly said he wants to annex, citing its strategic location in the Arctic.
Trump has once again said that the United States needs Greenland for national security reasons.
