Washington, June 25 -- In the month since US President Donald Trump put Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy's congressional career to end by backing a primary challenger against him, the two Republicans found themselves engaged in a heated confrontation as disagreements over the administration's Iran policy found the two GOP leaders engaged in what was essentially a full-on shouting match.
Since then, Cassidy has emerged as one of the president's most outspoken Republican critics on Capitol Hill.
According to Cassidy, the dispute erupted during a meeting in which Trump demanded an explanation from Republican senators who had joined Democrats a day earlier in supporting a measure aimed at curbing his military authority regarding Iran.
