Washington, July 2 -- Expressing confidence over the US' indirect negotiations with Iran, President Donald Trump said that "the denuclearisation of Iran is moving along well" as officials from both countries continued talks in Qatar.

The discussions between Washington and Tehran are taking place under the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 17, which committed both countries to negotiating a comprehensive agreement to formally end the war within a maximum of 60 days.

Despite his optimism however, academics and officials have cautioned that negotiations have so far been focused on less contentious issues, with the majority of the outstanding matters remaining unresolved.
