Kyiv, Sept. 7 -- US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held key talks in Kyiv aimed at reviving negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

The visit to Ukraine came immediately after the pair held three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. It was Witkoff and Kushner's first trip to Ukraine despite months of negotiations with both sides and several visits to Russia.

It was also the highest-level visit by a US official to Ukraine since Trump began his second term.

Russian and US officials gave positive assessments of Saturday's meeting with Putin.

"Kushner and Witkoff are making an effort, and we are making progress," a Russian official said.
