Washington, July 24 -- The US administration has imposed a new round of tariffs of up to 12.5% on imports from 60 trading partners under the forced labour law, replacing a temporary tariff programme that expired on Friday in a renewed effort to preserve US President Donald Trump's trade agenda through alternative legal powers.
The new duties took effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday, immediately after the expiration of across-the-board tariffs introduced earlier this year under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974.
