Agartala, April 16 -- A 13-year-old girl sustained severe injuries after coming into contact with a snapped live electric wire in Ambassa, in Tripura's Dhalai district, last evening, raising grave concerns over public safety and negligence in power infrastructure maintenance.

The incident occurred in the bustling Ambassa market area, unfolded under calm weather conditions, with no storms, rainfall, or strong winds, an indication of possible lapses in infrastructure upkeep.

Following the incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ambassa, Rinku Reang, issued a show-cause notice to two senior officials of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), calling out serious lapses in duty.
