Agartala, June 3 -- Tripura has marked a significant growth in fish production under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), but the state still heavily depends on fish imported from other states to meet consumer demand.

The Minister of Fisheries, Sudhangsu Das, said it has emerged as one of the state's most promising areas of rural development, providing employment opportunities and enhancing livelihoods for thousands of fish farmers, which was also reflected in the latest Economic Review of Tripura.
