Agartala, July 6 -- Tripura police have imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the parents of a juvenile who was caught allegedly riding a motorcycle recklessly on city roads on Sunday here, Traffic officials said.

Police said the action was taken under Section 199A of the amended Motor Vehicles Act, which holds parents, guardians, and registered vehicle owners accountable if they allow a minor to operate a motor vehicle.

According to the police, a motorcycle with the registration number TR01AN7801 was stopped during a traffic check due to alleged reckless riding. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the rider was under the legal age of 18 and therefore not permitted to hold a driving licence.
