Agartala, May 4 -- In a major milestone for bio-farming in Tripura, organic wheat has been successfully cultivated for the first time in the state, with the support of the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA).
In collaboration with various organic Farmer Producers' Organisations (FPCs) and pioneer farmers in several clusters across three districts of the state, covering Jirania, Lefunga, Hejamara, Mandai, Belbari, Jampuijla, Tulashikhar, Teliamura, Ompi, and Kalayanpur.
According to data on conventional wheat cultivation in the state, the average production from 2018-19 to 2024-25 was about 2.119 MT per hectare. In contrast, the organic wheat production this year reached 3.03 MT/ha, which is close to the national aver...
