Agartala, Sept. 1 -- The Special Judge in Ambassa of Tripura's Dhalai district convicted one Bijoy Ghosh and sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a rape case of a minor registered in 2016.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Ghosh, with a provision for a further six months of simple imprisonment in case of default in payment. Ghosh's conviction pertains to an offence punishable under Section 376(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in conjunction with the relevant provisions of the POCSO Act.
