Agartala, Aug. 31 -- Tripura assembly session turned tense when Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman was suspended by Speaker Rampada Jamatia for allegedly violating business rules. In response, both Congress and CPI-M members walked out in protest for the first half of the day.
Upon reconvening, Congress MLA Birjit Sinha raised concerns about the legality of the suspension, emphasizing that it was initiated solely by the Speaker, without a request from the ruling party, which he argued was against the law.
Sinha stated that the suspension should only occur with just cause, proposed by the leader of the house and supported by the majority, highlighting the need for proper procedures to be followed.
