Agartala, July 4 -- Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, along with Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, today flagged off the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service train between Agartala and Karimganj (Barak Valley of Assam).
This marks the first instance of an electric train commencing its journey from Agartala, as well as the introduction of the first MEMU service among the five Railway divisions in the northeast, signifying a substantial boost to the train service.
The introduction of the MEMU train, with a seating capacity for 3,600 passengers, ensures a safe and comfortable travel experience with the inclusion of CCTV and GPS for passenger safety.
