Agartala, Feb. 17 -- The brick manufacturing sector in Tripura has faced a significant crisis due to an abrupt halt in coal shipments from neighbouring Meghalaya and other sources over the past 15 days, which left kiln owners struggling to maintain production.

Vivekananda Choudhury, President of the Tripura Brick Kiln Association, stated that the industry's heavy dependence on coal and noted the lack of alternatives for transporting coal into the state by rail. No coal-laden trucks had entered Tripura for a fortnight.
