Agartala, May 1 -- The Tripura Assembly convened a special session yesterday to pass a formal resolution addressed to Parliament, endorsing the proposed 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, also referred to as Women's Reservation Bill.

Introducing the motion, Government Chief Whip Kalayani Roy said the legislation is focused on safeguarding women's constitutional rights while advancing their overall development, empowerment, and equitable participation in governance structures.

The session witnessed comprehensive discussions involving representatives from all political factions, who deliberated on the necessity of strengthening women's representation in legislative bodies.
