Agartala, April 12 -- Amid incidents of violence that left six people injured, around 85 per cent of the eligible voters exercised their democratic choice in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections on Sunday.

The elections were held for 28 seats.

The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) described the polls as peaceful, sans a few isolated incidents of disturbances. A repoll has been ordered in one booth in Jampuijala under Sepahijala district.

"So far, the turnout figure is approximately 85 per cent," the SEC said. Voting is still on.

SEC Secretary Anurag Sen said there were minor issues, and no major incident of violence was reported.
