Kolkata, Sept. 1 -- The ruling Trinamool Congress moved a censure motion under Rule 169 of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly today condemning the growing incidents of harassment and discrimination against Bengali-speaking people in different parts of India.
The motion, tabled by senior Trinamool Congress leader and minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, was brought during the special session of the Assembly that began on Monday and will continuetill September 4.
The session was convened primarily to discuss this resolution, apart from a few other issues including opposition to the SIR (State Industrial Region) and a discussion on the Aparajita Bill relating to women's safety.
