Nashik, Sept. 28 -- Tribal students and community members have begun a long march from Nashik to Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, to highlight issues concerning facilities in tribal ashram schools.
The protesters are demanding improvements in food, drinking water and accommodation facilities at ashram schools.
They have called for the closure of the central kitchen system, alleging that it provides substandard meals to students.
The marchers are also seeking the immediate release of pending Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments under the Swayam scheme.
In addition, the protesters have demanded the resignation of Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike, holding the department accountable for the issues faced by tribal students.
