Aichi-Nagoya, Sept. 22 -- India's women's badminton campaign ended in the Asian Games quarter-finals with a 3-1 defeat to hosts Japan here on Tuesday, but Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand provided a stirring glimpse of resistance when they delivered under immense pressure to keep the team's fading hopes alive.
With India trailing 0-2 and elimination staring them in the face, Treesa and Gayatri stepped onto the court knowing there was no room for error.
They responded in style.
The Indian pair defeated Japan's world No. 4 combination of Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-17, 21-16, cutting the deficit to 1-2 and briefly reviving India's hopes of an unlikely comeback.
