Brussels, Aug. 14 -- Transit through the Strait of Hormuz appeared to have come to a near standstill on Friday after two more ships were attacked in the strategic waterway and the US said it could maintain its naval blockade of Iran indefinitely.
A senior Iranian source said on Wednesday that there had been no progress in talks aimed at building on a June agreement to end the war. Since the ceasefire under that agreement broke down, Iran has resumed attacks on vessels it accuses of attempting to cross the strait without its permission.
