Shimla, July 20 -- Traffic on the Jahalma route in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district has been suspended after a temporary road across the Jahalma stream was washed away due to flash floods triggered by continuous rainfall, the district administration said on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Kiran Bhadana, said the temporary crossing over the stream was swept away following a rise in the water level, disrupting vehicular movement on both sides.

In view of public safety, movement of all vehicles on the route has been prohibited until further orders.
