Hyderabad, May 20 -- Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud has welcomed the Supreme Court verdict supporting the inclusion of caste enumeration in the national census process.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress party has consistently demanded a comprehensive caste census as a crucial step towards addressing deep-rooted social and economic inequalities in the country.
He recalled that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had strongly advocated caste enumeration during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, taking the issue directly to the people and stressing that a caste census is essential for achieving social justice.
