Lucknow, Feb. 16 -- Tourism became a key political flashpoint in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly as discussion on the 2026-27 Budget began on Monday, with Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh responding to opposition questions with project figures and budget comparisons.

Samajwadi Party MLAs Kamal Akhtar and Nafees Ahmed sought details on development, beautification and long term planning of major tourist destinations, and asked which sites are being prioritised for domestic and international visitors.
