Paris, Aug. 26 -- The 2025 BWF World Championships opened in Paris, bringing the planet's best shuttlers back to the 9,000-seat Adidas Arena, the only venue in the city built specifically for the 2024 Olympic Games.
China's top seed Shi Yuqi advanced in the men's singles opening round on Monday, joined by compatriots Weng Hongyang and Lu Guangzu. Shi, who lost in the Olympic quarterfinals at the same venue last summer, overcame India's Lakshya Sen 21-17, 21-19 in a hard-fought 54-minute match.
