Chennai, Aug. 5 -- The Tamil Nadu government will safeguard its rights on the Mekedatu dam issue involving Karnataka and other inter-state river water sharing issues with neighbouring states through sustained legal efforts, Finance Minister N.Marie Wilson told the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Presenting the TVK regime's first budget, he said the TN Government will continue to safeguard the State's rightful share of inter-state river waters, its interests and rights in water sharing.
It would ensure timely Cauvery water releases in accordance with established agreements, tribunal awards and judicial directions. Tamil Nadu's water rights will be protected through sustained legal, technical and administrative efforts, including opposition to...
