Chennai, March 31 -- Veteran DMK Leader and Party General Secretary Duraimurugan has equalled the unique record of his political mentor and late DMK Patriarch M Karunanidhi by entering the fray for a record 13th time in the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
In the 12 elections he had contested, Duraimurugan had won on ten occasions, while suffering reverses in 1984 and in 1991, when the AIADMK swept the polls riding on the sympathy wave following the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi during an election rally at Sriperumbdur in May 1991.
