Chennai, Aug. 5 -- The Tamil Nadu government would procure 1,000 airconditioned Electric buses for MTC, Finance Minister N.Marie Wilson informed the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Presenting the TVK regime's first budget,e he said the government will operate electric buses under the Gross Cost Contract model.
During the current financial year, 1,000 new air-conditioned electric buses will be procured for the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC). A sum of Rs.500 crore has been allocated in the Budget to provide electrical and mechanical fixtures for these buses at the bus depots.
