Chennai, Aug. 31 -- Issuing a stringent warning of suspension for the first offence and dismissal for the second if rates over and above the MRP are collected in state-owned TASMC retail liquor outlets, the Tamil Nadu government announced hike in salary hike for its employees effective from tomorrow (September one), the second within 100 days of TVK regime assuming office, Prohibition and Excise Minister K Vignesh announced in the State Assembly on Monday.

Sales from the TASMAC liquor outlets was one of the major revenue earners for the government to fund its populst schemes and the revenue kept increasing every year and it touched close to Rs 50,000 crore at the end of 2025-26 fiscal.
