Chennai, Feb. 18 -- The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Drugs Control on Wednesday issued a publicnotice warning the people against the purchase, sale, and consumption of Oral Nicotine Pouchesas they are not approved in the country and their safety, efficacy and quality were not established.
This unapproved drug directly deliver pharmacologically active substance to the bloodstream throughbuccal absorption and uncontrolled consumption of Nicotine (more concentrated Nicotine which mayextend beyond traditional one cigarette use etc., along unknown additives/excipients) may result inmore worsened health hazards due to increased total nicotine intake.
