Chennai, July 6 -- The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) on Monday stoutly opposed the Congress goverment in Karnataka's move to goahead with the construction of a new dam at Mekedatu across River Cauvery as it violates the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) and the Supreme Court orders.
A key resolution to this effect was adopted at its first Executive Committee meeting chaired by newly-appointed TNCC President and Lok Sabha MP K Manickam Tagore at party headquarters Sathyamurthi Bhavan here.
