Chennai, March 13 -- The Tamil Nadu Assembly session which had commenced on January 20 with the customary New Year address to the House by the Governor, was on Friday prorogued though a notification by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

After being adjourned on January 24, the House resumed for Budget session on February 17 for its final setting and was adjourned sine die on the last day, February 20.

Since the elections are round the corner, Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu presented the interim General Budget and Agrictulture Minister MRK Panneerselvam tabled the interim Agri budget. After a short two-day debate and after replies by both the Ministers to the debates, the House was adjourned on February 20.
