Chennai, June 19 -- The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Friday adopted an unanimous resolution against the Karnataka government's move to construct a new dam at Mekedatu across river Cauvery.

The resolution, moved by Chief Minister Vijay, was adopted unanimously, with the leaders of various parties, including ruling TVK's ally, the Congress, the principal Opposition DMK and AIADMK, pledging their full support to it.

Moving the resolution, Vijay said his government would take all efforts to stall the Karnataka government's move to go ahead with the dam construction. He also strongly opposed the neighbouring state's unilateral attempt to construct the dam at Mekedatu in violation of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and without ...
