Kolkata, March 26 -- A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was shot dead in south Kolkata and another youth injured late Wednesday night, triggering panic in the area, police said today, identifying the deceased as Rahul Dey.
The incident took place around midnight in the Purba Phulbagan under Baghajatin police station area.
The incident came to light when local residents heard at least three rounds of firing from the rooftop of a residential building.
People rushed to the roof to find Rahul Dey lying in a pool of blood on the spot. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Another youth, identified as Jeet Mukhopadhyay, sustained serious injuries. He is in a hospital undergoing treatment.
