Kolkata, May 28 -- A fresh political storm has erupted in West Bengal after BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya on Thursday claimed that several Trinamool Congress legislators had secretly held meetings with top Congress leaders in Delhi following the party's crushing defeat in the Assembly elections.

Speaking to a Bengali news channel, Bhattacharya alleged that "many Trinamool MLAs have met Congress leaders in Delhi," and went a step further by suggesting that the Trinamool Congress should formally merge with the Congress.
