Tirumala, June 10 -- The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) continues to operate one of the world's largest free meal programmes, serving nutritious food to lakhs of devotees every day under its Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust.
Sustained entirely through donations from devotees, the Trust currently holds fixed deposits of around Rs 2,500 crore.
Income generated from these deposits enables TTD to provide free meals, breakfast and beverages to pilgrims visiting Tirumala throughout the year.
Often described as a modern-day "Akshaya Patra", the Annaprasadam programme has emerged as a globally recognised model of humanitarian and spiritual service, ensuring that every devotee visiting the hill shrine receives food free of cost.
