Tirthu Devi sets an example by growing multiple crops simultaneously in a Hamirpur village

Bhoranj(HP), Oct. 28 -- Tirthu Devi, an elderly woman farmer from Harned village in Himachal Pradesh, has achieved remarkable success through natural farming. Now, it is possible to achieve good yields without using chemical fertilisers and toxic pesticides, and grow multiple crops simultaneously in the same field.

By adopting the method of natural farming, which is being widely promoted in Himachal Pradesh through the Agriculture Department's ATMA project, 68-year-old Tirthu Devi is growing multiple crops simultaneously in her fields and receiving good prices for her produce.

During the Kharif season that ended last month, Tirthu Devi planted indigenous maize, sesame, soybean, and okra in her fields. She did not use any chemical fertilis...
