Mumbai, March 26 -- With changing lifestyles and rising pollution levels, eye-related disorders are increasing rapidly, with dry eye emerging as a common concern, said renowned ophthalmologist Dr Deeksh Rani here on Thursday.
She emphasized that timely diagnosis and proper treatment are crucial for maintaining good eye health.
Earlier, dry eye was mostly seen in older patients, but now even individuals in the 20-30 age group are increasingly affected, she said.
Dr Deeksha explained that dry eye is broadly classified into two types - one caused by insufficient tear production and the other due to poor tear quality despite normal production.
