New Delhi, July 21 -- Ahead of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting in Harare on Thursday, India vice-captain Tilak Varma on Tuesday defended his approach with the bat after coming under criticism during the T20I series against Ireland and England, saying his role is to play according to the team's needs rather than chase an aggressive strike rate in every innings.
Tilak was handed the vice-captaincy ahead of the UK tour, with the team management preferring him over senior players such as Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
