Kolhapur, Nov. 15 -- After covering a distance of about 850 kilometers in 27 hours, Chanda the tigress (STR T 04) of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve was released from a special cage at 3:20 am on Friday.
Although Chanda was released in the enclosure at Sonarli of the Chandoli Sanctuary through a "soft release" method, she will be monitored through the collar ID installed by the forest department.
As a part of central government's 'Operation Tara' for raising number of tigers in Western Ghat, with Chanda tigress from Tadoba-Andhari, forest department left to Sahyadri Tiger Project on Wednesday evening and after 850 km journey, forest team reached yesterday at Sahyadri Tiger Project in Chandolee sanctuary.
