Hyderabad, May 22 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Friday urged banks to play a more proactive role in strengthening Telangana's rural economy by expanding agricultural lending beyond crop loans to infrastructure and value-added farming sectors.
Addressing the 49th Quarterly Meeting of the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) at Praja Bhavan, the Agriculture Minister said Telangana's Credit-Deposit ratio had reached 130.78 per cent, surpassing the national average, while agricultural lending touched Rs 1.87 lakh crore during 2025-26.
